Darwen - Contractor/Specification Sales Executive

37.5 hours per week

£24,000 - £26,000 dependant on experience + benefits

We are looking to recruit a Contractor / Specification Sales Executive to strengthen the Crown Paints Sales Executive team and provide the field sales team with well qualified leads through research and telemarketing, whilst at the same time developing a new telephone sales ledger of accounts.


Reporting into the Tender Co-ordinator / Sales Executive and working out of Head Office in Darwen, your key responsibilities will centre mainly around:-


  • Contacting potential or existing Contractor and Specification customers in order to sell them products or services.
  • Developing a new telephone sales ledger of Contractors for each region within the team.
  • Establishing the needs and drivers of the potential customer and explaining our products/services in some detail, including key features and benefits.
  • Assessing and understanding the sales and margin potential from these customers for Crown Paints.

  • Researching organisations by geographical location and industry type and identifying opportunities.

  • Establishing key contacts and decision makers within those organisations.

  • Making telephone calls to these key contacts and decision makers with the aim of making appointments for our field based Sales Managers to visit them.

  • Identifying, providing and following up on Barbour leads in the field.

  • Managing individual projects and working on team projects.

  • ….. Whilst meeting all agreed targets and objectives!


To succeed in this sales development role, you will need to demonstrate: -

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Proven research skills

  • Previous successful telesales and/or telemarketing experience in a highly competitive and demanding environment

  • First rate communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly and effectively gain interest in our products and secure appointments.

  • A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.


From time to time you will be required to spend time out of the office, therefore you should have a valid driving licence.
