Colour Insights: The Hottest Paint Trends for the Upcoming Seasons

Colour can dramatically change the mood of a room and affect how we feel. The magic of colour within our environments goes beyond mere decoration; it has the profound ability to influence our mood, emotions, and even our well-being. Each colour carries its own energy and psychological effects, transforming spaces into experiences that can uplift, soothe, energise, or comfort us.

“At Crown, we understand how powerful and transformative colour can be, which is why we’re so excited to unveil our latest Colour Insights,” says Crown Colour Consultant Kathryn Lloyd.  “We’ve spent countless hours over the past 12 months, drawing from our collective experience as consultants, designers and specialists, to develop this collection and have found inspiration in lots of weird and wonderful places to bring to life the palettes you see today.”

We’re delighted to share with you our Colour Insights for 2024 and 2025—a carefully curated palette of colours and schemes, inspired by global trends, to influence the design choices of tomorrow and for years to come. This collection has been shaped by our distinguished panel of colour and interior design professionals and echoes the latest movements in lifestyle, fashion, and the environment.

Our 2024/2025 Colour Insights is comprised of four distinct palettes: Community, Solutions, Pivot, and Escape. Each palette has been designed to evoke emotion and inspire creativity, merging different shades and design methodologies, and empowering DIY enthusiasts and home decorators to revitalise any space, from interiors to exteriors.

This collection can also be viewed as a helpful guide for achieving harmony when it comes to colour application. The main colours of each scheme are represented by larger swatches, indicating their role as the focal shades, while the smaller swatches serve as complementary accent colours, enhancing the overall design aesthetic.

Below, we’ll take you through each palette and what makes it so special.

Crown Colour Insights – Community – featuring Bare Concrete, Genuine, Wave After Wave, Le Petit Palais, Heartsoul, Yarn

Community:

The Community palette is all about using colour to create joyful, invigorating spaces that bring people together. We firmly believe that an inviting and thoughtfully designed space can serve as a nurturing ground for community and togetherness, fostering connections and creating a sense of belonging among its inhabitants.Top of Form

Motivated by values of inclusivity, personal expression, and identity, this collection revitalises any area by celebrating brave design decisions, including the use of striking colours, pronounced contrasts, and colour blocking techniques.

“Craft is both an art form and an activity that can bring a sense of joy and wellbeing to our daily lives and into our communities,” remarks Lloyd. “Binding communities together, colour and art can be used to reconnect and create a sense of awe-inspiring creativity, firing our imaginations.”

The palette includes an almost primary red, yellow, and green, as well as hot pink for bold accents. These are balanced by softer tones of pink and blue pastels, and a soothing warm grey, to ensure both dimension and balance.

Crown Colour Insights – Solutions – featuring Leatherbound, Ceramic Kiln, Hare, Open Water, Curiosity, Soft Scribbles, Soft Grey Suede Textured, Trailing Plant, Enchanted Ivy

Solutions:

Nature serves as an unparalleled teacher in many aspects, including colour and design, teaching us the value of harmony, balance, and the beauty in diversity. By observing the natural world, we can learn to incorporate its vast palette and intricate patterns into our creations, making them more vibrant, sustainable, and connected to the world around us. Showcasing how design can learn from the natural world, the Solutions palette embraces nature in all its forms, textures, and imperfections.

“In the process of finding solutions to many of our environmental problems, we sometimes stumble upon new, interesting shades and colour combinations,” Says our Senior Designer Justyna Korczynska, “Created at random by different recycling processes and often found in second-life composite materials. Solutions embraces these accidental colour palettes.”

Drawing inspiration from the principles of upcycling and a deep appreciation for the natural world, this palette offers a wide range of colour—from bold to softer tones—reminiscent of the delightfully unexpected colour schemes commonly found in recycled materials. It features warm terracotta matched with muted blues, greens, and neutrals, complemented by subtle highlights of more vivid blue and green hues, inspired by the colours of sea and river glass.

Crown Colour Insights – Pivot – featuring Work Of Art, Genuine, Delicate Touch, Saddle Stitch, Market Day, One Of A Kind

Pivot:

Taking cues from the past and embracing quality craftsmanship can illuminate our path forward in design, encouraging a deeper appreciation for durability, aesthetics, and sustainability. This reverence for traditional techniques and attention to detail not only enriches our living spaces but also inspires a more mindful and intentional approach to the creations that shape our world. Intended to create a comforting environment, the Pivot collection is rooted in heritage and quality, aiming to act as an antidote to the contemporary fast-paced, high-consumption world.

“Pivot is a strong, classic palette. It reminds me of heritage and culture yet there is also a tactile, practical feel. It’s a warm, earthy and delicious palette, which evokes comfort and reminds me of my morning coffee,” says Araitz Harmens, Senior Interior Designer at DAY Interior Design.

This palette emphasises human values, ethical considerations, and a return to time-honoured practices. It harmonises soothing, earthy shades like tans and warm neutrals with blue-greys, making it an ideal match for hand-crafted, salvaged, and reupholstered home decor.

Crown Colour Insights – Escape – featuring Sow Good, Ceramic Kiln, Cross Stitch, Market Day, Overjoyed, Ivy Grey, Poetry

Escape:

Candy colours such as mint green and warm yellow contrast with sugary pink tones in the dream-like Escape palette, evoking a sense of nostalgia and playfulness.
Drawing inspiration from the hues of vintage holiday snapshots, cherished mementos, and classic film sets, Escape offers a pastel-hued retreat for interior spaces.

“Escape takes us on a trip down memory lane to awaken all the senses. It’s a nod to everything nostalgic with sugary pastel colours,” remarks Crown Senior Designer Lisa Miller.

This palette strikes a balance between retro charm and contemporary flair, crafting a surreal ambiance that invites decorators to think outside the box and unleash their creative potential. These gentle yet vibrant hues inspire a sense of whimsy and optimism, encouraging designers to infuse spaces with elements that are both heartwarming and visually stimulating, crafting environments that are inviting and full of personality.

The exploration of Crown Paints’ Colour Insights for 2024/2025 reveals more than just the upcoming trends in colour and design; it unveils the profound relationship between colour, emotion, and the spaces we inhabit.

From the community-building shades of the Community palette to the nature-inspired Solutions, the comforting hues of Pivot, and the nostalgic vibrancy of Escape, each collection invites us to reconsider our approach to interior design. These palettes encourage us to blend tradition with innovation, find balance in our fast-paced world, and create environments that reflect our identities and aspirations.

As we look forward, let these insights inspire us to craft spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also nurturing, sustainable, and deeply connected to the world around us.
